Plan your tripIndonesia grants visa on arrival to Indian passport holders for 30 days, extendable once. Carry proof of onward travel and a passport valid at least six months beyond entry. The fee is payable in cash or card at the airport.
There are no direct flights from Bengaluru. Most routings connect through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok, with total travel time around seven to nine hours. Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia are the usual options.
April to October is the dry season. July and August are peak with prices to match. May, June and September sit in the shoulder with almost identical weather and noticeably lower rates.
Bali is safe for tourists. Drink bottled water only. Traffic is chaotic, so hire a driver rather than a scooter unless you are experienced. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended.
The Indonesian Rupiah runs around 5.3 rupiah to the rupee, so expect large numbers. Cards work at hotels and larger restaurants. Carry cash for warungs, markets and temple donations.
Bali is Hindu, and temples require a sarong and sash, usually lent at the entrance. Do not step over offerings on the pavement. Menstruating women are traditionally asked not to enter temple grounds.
